multimedia installation
10 screens and web search robots, 1500 colour slides

After recovering and accumulating colour slides for more than ten years - that I found, bought or inherited from complete strangers-  I decided to digitalise this archive and upload it on the web. Fascinated by the aesthetic strength of these images, I seek to give new life to this intimate archive.
I chose to create a dialogue between this material memory and the immaterial, changing and multiple archive of the World Wide Web. The installation comes alive at the crossroads of these two memories and unfolds in space through a linear form consisting of 10 robots/screens on feet.
The first robot/screen choses one image at the time and each one of the other eight machines analyzes that first image using an internet search algorithm, thus revealing a detail, a sound, a keyword and a video,  creating an ideal extension, a new life for the initial image.
Finally, the tenth robot/screen wakes up and unveils a short automated random editing that comes from the previous results: would that image be "the afterimage"?
